Simple yet effective details transformed a former garage space to a guest room.
A very tight budget called for the use of simple details and a clear lighting strategy to elevate a simple project to something memorable. The new floor, introduced for the sleeping loft, create different ceiling heights and volumes within the same space, creating areas with different character.
The former garage had high ceilings, creating an opportunity for a lofty living space. There were no windows in the original space, calling for an artificial lighting strategy, and replacing existing doors with glazing to bring in natural light.
A floor was introduced, and the existing trusswork was reconfigured create extra ceiling height for the bedroom sleeping loft.
Artificial lighting was actively considered in the project, in combination with colour and light to create a compact yet dynamic space.
